The Monstera Adansonii is also known as monkey mask. The houseplant owes this nickname to its unusual leaves, which are full of holes. As this houseplant grows, more and more holes appear in the leaves. Another nickname of this plant is the wrinkle hole plant.
This particular plant is native to the rain forests of Central and South America. The Monstera is a hemi-epiphyte: a plant that can grow both on the ground and on other plants/trees/rocks. In the latter case, the plant climbs up with aerial roots (brown strings growing from the stems).
